Built Different: phrase used to describe a person’s unique ability to do things which others cannot do

Our calling: Eternal perspective and a daily perspective.

OPENING SCRIPTURE:

But you are A CHOSEN PEOPLE (Built Different), a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s SPECIAL POSSESSION (Built Different), that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. (1 Peter 2:9 NIV)

• God’s chosen people, God’s special possession (built different)
• Built Different so that we can stand out and not blend in.

YOU ARE THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden. (Matthew 5:14 NLT)

• We are supposed to be that light and not hide and blend in

No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father. (Matthew 5:15-16 NLT)

• We can stand out in darkness and be a voice of reason in a world that is full of confusion and chaos.

CALLING is FORGED in the CHAOS of life

Then PETER CALLED TO HIM, “Lord, if it’s really you, TELL ME TO COME TO YOU, walking on the water.” (Matthew 14:28 NLT)

• Peter did not asked Jesus to calm the storm. He knew there was a purpose to this storm. Instead, he called unto Jesus.
There is purpose even in the chaos of your life.

“YES, COME,” Jesus said. (Matthew 14:29 NLT)

A CALLING is an INVITATION to COME OUT of the boat in the middle of the CHAOS.

Calling: Eternal Call and Daily Call

#1 ETERNAL CALL

“I KNEW YOU before I FORMED YOU in your mother’s womb. Before you were born I SET YOU APART and APPOINTED YOU as my prophet to the nations.” (Jeremiah 1:5 NLT)

• God has been calling you even before you were born, even before time began. That promise is of eternal value! Whether you are a believer or a non-believer.

Calling is also a two-way road: His and Yours.
He calls and your response to His call matters.

For everyone who CALLS on the name of the Lord will be SAVED. (Romans 10:13 NLT)

Your ETERNAL CALL is to BE a FOLLOWER OF JESUS.
• That eternal call is where Jeremiah 1:5 and Romans 10:13 intersects.

#2 DAILY CALL

For God saved us and CALLED US to live a HOLY LIFE. He did this, not because we deserved it, but because that was his plan from before the beginning of time to show us his grace through Christ Jesus. (2 Timothy 1:9 NLT)

• Holy means set apart for God. Set apart = Built Different.
• Built Different so that you can fit perfectly into His plan.

A CALLING is NOT a CAREER.
CALLING is a path that STARTS and ENDS with GOD
CAREER is a path that you CAN CHOOSE WITHOUT GOD

Can calling intersect with career? YES

• That’s where Jeremiah 1:5 meets both Romans 10:13 and 2 Timothy 1:9
• That’s where career meets calling. That’s where dream meets destiny.

Your DAILY CALLING is about SERVING JESUS TODAY.
Your Daily Calling is to be a SERVANT OF CHRIST TODAY!

Eternal Call: Be a Follower of Christ.
Daily Call: Be a Servant of Christ.
