OPENING SCRIPTURES:

“I HAVE SET BEFORE YOU LIFE AND DEATH, BLESSINGS AND CURSES. Now CHOOSE LIFE.” (Deuteronomy 30:19 NIV)

• This is not just a philosophical concept—it’s practical. A choice of life or death in our words.

DEATH and LIFE are in the POWER OF THE TONGUE, And those who love it will eat its fruit. (Proverbs 18:21 NKJ)

• Words carry weight- eternal weight.
• Words are not neutral- They set the tone, the temperature, the course and direction.
• Words are weapons or tools. The choice is ours.
What we say carries weight because it reflects the One we represent.

So, we are CHRIST’S AMBASSADORS; God is making his appeal through us. WE SPEAK FOR CHRIST when we plead, “Come back to God!” (2 Corinthians 5:20 NLT)

• As believers, we are ambassadors for Christ: Nominated and appointed by Jesus to speak on His behalf.
• We speak on behalf of the One show sent us. Our words must reflect His heart. What is His heart? Give life.
• Our roles as ambassadors is to speak life, build up, encourage, heal and restore.
3 reasons why choosing words that build matter as Ambassadors

#1: WORDS REVEAL THE KINGDOM WE REPRESENT

“For out of the ABUNDANCE of the HEART the MOUTH speaks” (Matthew 12:34 NKJ)

• What is in abundance on your heart? Life or death. What is in abundance will always well up to the surface.
• Jesus and the Samaritan woman: His words did not shame her, they awakened her to a greater purpose. She went from outcast to evangelist.
Why? Jesus used words that build up!

Speak the truth, but let the truth be wrapped in compassion.
Speak in a way that will build the bridge, and not burn it.

#2: WORDS CAN HEAL OR HARM

The WORDS of the reckless PIERCE LIKE SWORDS, but the tongue of the wise brings HEALING. (Proverbs 12:18 NIV)

• Your words can build up by bringing healing and restoration

When Saul arrived in Jerusalem, he tried to meet with the believers, but they were all afraid of him. They did not believe he had truly become a believer! (Acts 9:26 NLT)

• Saul was harmed the church. Healing build a built a bridge to restore that relationship with believers and the church of the 1st century.
• Barnabas: “Son of Encouragement” seized the opportunity to be that ambassador for Jesus. He spoke up for Saul.

Then Barnabas brought him to the apostles and told them how Saul had seen the Lord on the way to Damascus and how the Lord had spoken to Saul. He also told them that Saul had preached boldly in the name of Jesus in Damascus. (Acts 9:27 NLT)

Be a Barnabas to someone. Don’t be afraid to stand up and speak for Christ.

#3: WORDS REFLECT OUR MISSION TO RECONCILE

• Jesus is our perfect example: He did not just give us a mission. He was the mission.

“Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.” (Luke 22:34)

• He spoke words of reconciliation.
• He was building a bridge between humanity and God – through His words and His sacrifice.

For God was in Christ, reconciling the world to himself, no longer counting people’s sins against them. And HE GAVE US THIS WONDERFUL MESSAGE OF RECONCILIATION. So WE ARE CHRIST’S AMBASSADORS; God is making his appeal through us. WE SPEAK FOR CHRIST WHEN WE PLEAD, “Come back to God!” (2 Corinthians 5: 19-20 NLT)

• God has given to us as ambassadors this mission: To reconcile.
DEATH and LIFE are in the POWER OF THE TONGUE, And THOSE WHO LOVE IT WILL EAT ITS FRUIT. (Proverbs 18:21 NKJ)

Call to Action: Plant words that will yield good fruit.
