OPENING SCRIPTURE: The Lord had said to Abram, “LEAVE your native country, your relatives, and your father’s family, and go to the land that I will show you. 2 I WILL MAKE YOU INTO A GREAT NATION. I WILL BLESS YOU AND MAKE YOU FAMOUS, AND YOU WILL BE A BLESSING TO OTHERS. 3 I will bless those who bless you and curse those who treat you with contempt. All the families on earth will be blessed through you.” (Genesis 12:1-3 NLT)
- God gives Abram a promise: “I will make you into a great nation. I will bless you and make you famous, and you will be a blessing to others”
- Now God this promise comes with an unwavering condition:
- Whether you are new to the faith or you are a veteran, conquering the fear of the unknown is absolutely necessary.
Let’s explore some ways on how we can do that.
- LEAVE THE FAMILIAR
- Leaving the familiar is the basis of faith, our trust in the lord.
- Leaving the familiar is a spiritual decision. Something that the Holy Spirit is doing inside of you that motivates you to obey His voice.
- EMBARK ON THAT JOURNEY
- Conquering the fear of the unknown is a journey that starts with you making a decision to leave the past behind!
- Not everyone is meant to accompany you on that journey.
No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: FORGETTING THE PAST AND LOOKING FORWARD TO WHAT LIES AHEAD (Philippians 3:13 NLT)
- Here’s what we know about the past: No matter how painful it might be, but if this is all we have known, it is so easy to still cling on to it!
- The fear of the unknown will cause us to choose bondage over freedom
- This journey to freedom starts with one step – one step of faith as you leave the past behind
- FEED ON HIS FAITHFULNESS
- Fear can erase god’s faithfulness from your memory
- If you cannot remember God’s faithfulness in your past, you will not trust Him with your future
TRUST IN THE LORD, and DO GOOD; DWELL IN THE LAND, and FEED ON HIS FAITHFULNESS. (Psalm 37:3 NKJ)
- Throughout this journey you will feed on His faithfulness!
- If you remember His faithfulness, you will remember His promises
When we leave the fear of the unknown behind, we walk in His promises
- At the young age of 99 Abram and Sarai 90, they received the promise
- It was not the perfect journey for Abraham and Sarah but God was faithful
- God believes the best in you!
- He did not plan your life’s journey based on your failures and your fears
- He fashioned you for faith not fear! it’s time to stop believing the lies of the enemy and allow fear to rule your life.
CONCLUSION
