Full Yet Not Satisfied (11/03/2019)

November 4, 2019

FULL YET NOT SATISFIED. That statement alone can be negative and indicative of selfishness and even greed. WHY SETTLE FOR BEING FULL WHILE SATISFACTION IS JUST ON THE OTHER SIDE?

What’s so wrong about being  full? What’s the difference between full and satisfied?

BEING FULL can be self gratifying, self indulging, even numbing to the point when all you can think about is self

BEING SATISFIED goes in the overflow area. Yes, you are full but you are not satisfied until you reach beyond your borders and reach others

The Sea of Galilee and The Dead Sea

The Jordan river feeds both the sea of Galilee and the Dead sea. The Sea of Galilee flourishes with life (trees, fish, birds). On the other hand, The Dead Sea is the opposite. It has no life

One might ask: Why are they so different? Is it not the same Jordan river that flows  and feeds both of them. Are they are not always full?
But here’s the difference:
– The Sea of Galilee RECEIVES from the Jordan but DOES NOT KEEP ANYTHING. It flows back out to the Jordan
– The Dead Sea RECEIVES from the Jordan but it KEEPS EVERY DROP IT RECEIVES.

THEY ARE BOTH ALWAYS FULL BUT ONLY ONE IS SATISFIED

QUESTION: What sea will best describe you when it comes to giving, to serving

SATISFACTION ONLY COMES WHEN IT FLOWS OUT OF YOU: SERVING, GIVING.  Don’t be content with just being full.  Move to OVERFLOWING SATISFACTION.

Be generous in your giving. But also be generous in your serving.

OPENING SCRIPTURE: (2 Corinthians 9:6-8)

Remember this—a farmer who plants only a few seeds will get a small crop. But the one who plants GENEROUSLY will get a GENEROUS crop. You must each decide in your heart how much to give. And don’t give reluctantly or in response to pressure. “For God loves a person who gives cheerfully.”and God will GENEROUSLY provide ALL YOU NEED. Then you will always have everything you need (FULL) and plenty left over to share with others (SATISFACTION).

DEFINITION OF GENEROSITY: The quality of being plentiful- being FULL. But not just being full but plenty left over to share with others. A generous person is described as one who jumps at every opportunity to give

A TYPE OF GENEROSITY THAT CAN ONLY COME FROM GOD

He did not spare even his own Son but gave him up for us all, won’t he also give us everything else? (Romans 8:32)
