Matthew 14:22-33

  • Famous passage where Jesus walked on water. But He was not the only one
  • “You can never cross the ocean unless you have the courage to lose sight of the shore”

STEPPING OUT REQUIRES SOMETHING CALLED: TRUST

  • The word “trust” in the Bible literally mean “A BOLD, CONFIDENT ACTION
  • It’s action not just believing

“ Trust in the Lord with all of your heart. And lean not unto your own understanding. In all of your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths” (Proverbs 3:5-6)

HOW DO WE DEVELOP TRUST? ALIGN – EXERCISE – MOVE

ALIGN – TRUSTING GOD REQUIRES PROPER ALIGNMENT WITH GOD

“Trust in the Lord with all of your heart and lean not unto your own understanding.”

  •  Why is the alignment of your heart important? It affects your life!
  • “Above all else, guard your heart (affections, emotions). For they influence everything else in your life.” (Proverbs 4:23 Living Bible)
  • Your heart must be properly aligned with God by feeding it the right stuff

EXERCISE – OUR FAITH NEEDS TO BE EXERCISED

  • Faith must be exercised in order to bear fruits
  • Faith tested is faith triumphant
  • How do you exercise faith? It is believing and speaking and doing (2 Cor 4:13)

MOVE – MOVE IN THE DIRECTION THAT GOD IS CALLING YOU

  •  Acknowledge God by moving in the direction that He is calling you.
  • In the midst of fear, chaos, He is that still voice: that says come!

CONCLUSION

  • What is the Holy Spirit saying to you through this message?
  • Why settle for just being full while satisfaction is just on the other side?
