OPENING SCRIPTURE:

On the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink. He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.” (John 7:37-38 NKJ)

• This invitation made 2000 years ago still stands today
• Jesus’ timing perfection: The last day Feast of Tabernacles.
• Pilgrims would sing from Isaiah 12:3 “With joy you will draw water from the wells of salvation.”
• Jesus arrived proclaiming Himself as the well of salvation and extending an invitation for all who thirst to come and drink.
• Jesus was proclaiming Himself as The Messiah.

#1: An Invitation for Every Thirsty Soul

John 7 gives clear depiction of the gospel. The invitation is simple: Come and drink.

If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink. (John 7:37 NKJ)

• Jesus’ invitation is universal and timeless – “anyone.” No one is excluded because of their past, failures, or status.
• Jesus doesn’t offer relief from thirst; He offers Himself as the source.

Invitation to God was also in the OT.

“COME, ALL you who are thirsty, come to the waters; (Isaiah 55:1 NIV)

• God’s invitation is universal and timeless.
• It is always there and available for any thirsty soul.

Throughout the NT, Jesus keeps extending that same invitation

“COME to me, ALL you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. (Matthew 11:28 NIV)

• Jesus welcomes ALL people who are exhausted by sin, guilt, and life’s burdens.
• You are invited to come just as you are.

A 67-miles journey to extend this invitation to a Samaritan woman.

Whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them A SPRING OF WATER WELLING UP TO ETERNAL LIFE. (John 4: 14 NIV)

• From that well, Jesus offers eternal life

#2: Access To The Power Source

He who believes in Me…out of his heart will flow RIVERS OF LIVING WATER.” (John 7:38 NKJ)

• The Holy Spirit continually refreshes, strengthens, and transforms

What God pours into us is never meant to stop with us – it overflows to others, to the next generation.

For I WILL POUR OUT WATER TO QUENCH YOUR THIRST AND TO IRRIGATE YOUR PARCHED FIELDS. And I will pour out my Spirit ON YOUR DESCENDANTS, and my blessing ON YOUR CHILDREN. They will THRIVE like watered grass, like willows on a riverbank. (Isaiah 44:3-4 NLT)

• God’s promise extends beyond one generation to bless future generations.

I will give you A NEW HEART and put A NEW SPIRIT in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. And I will put my Spirit in you and move you to follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws. (Ezekiel 36:26-27 NIV)

• New life begins with a new heart.
• God does this transformation from the inside out.
