having considerable skill, proficiency, or intelligence.

When it comes to God sometimes it’s hard for us to remember that HE is able.

Main scripture: Ephesians 3:20

“Now to him who is ABLE to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us,”

Moses+Self=Doubt 

You+yourself=Doubt

Doubt was controlling Moses. His thoughts, what he said, how he was acting towards God.

When you are in you and only see you. You’ll have doubt. When you have God in the mix you’ll get belief.


Moses+God =Belief

You+God=Belief

Definition of belief:

an acceptance that a statement is true or that something exists.
trust, faith, or confidence in someone or something.

Romans 15:13

“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”

Moses turned is doubt into belief. He let God use him and set the Israelites free. He didn’t let his doubt be louder than Gods words.


Gideon+Self=Fear 

You+Yourself=Fear

Gideon is so fearful he doesn’t believe God called him to take out the midianite army that is controlling the Israelites.

Gideon let fear control the way he thinks and the way he’s talked to God.

1: an unpleasant often strong emotion caused by anticipation or awareness of danger

2: anxious concern : SOLICITUDE

3: reason for alarm : DANGER

Gideon let his fear run over. Gideon let himself get in the way of what God had called him to do.


When we operate in fearful ways, we miss what God is going to do in us

God has never given us a fearful heart. God has given us a confident heart. 


2 Timothy 1:7 

“For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.”


Gideon+God=Confidence 

You+God=Confidence

 

The cleansing of a fearful mind will lead to a confident mind 

By Gideon obeying he not only had confidence though God but he had confidence in God.

 

confidence:

a feeling or consciousness of one’s powers or of reliance on one’s circumstances

Psalms 34:4 

“I sought the Lord, and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears.”

Peter+self=Shame

You+Yourself=Shame

Peter was someone who was a disciple who was ready to go to the grave with Jesus until he denied him 3x. Just like Peter we can carry around unwanted and unneeded shame.

God doesn’t want you to let shame rule your life. When you let God in and let go of shame that’s when He brings in honor.


Peter+God=Honor

You+God=Honor

God restored Peter. Peter ended up becoming such an important role for the early church as a leader and when he gave his sermons.

When it comes to us and our shame. Do we carry that weight around?

Psalms 103:12 

“He has removed our sins as far from us as the east is from the west.”

 

2 Corinthians 5:17 

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!”

Peter, Gideon, and Moses all had this. They had a spiritual awakening that gave them life. It gave them meaning. It wiped out all the other things that were known about them. All 3 of them are respected and admired.
