The Importance of Asking the Right Questions

June 26, 2022

OPENING STATEMENT:  Asking good questions can bring joy and satisfaction of overcoming life’s challenges.

Nehemiah 8:10  “Do not sorrow, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.”

    • If you and I are going to live a purpose filled life we will have to find strength.
    • Anything that robs you of your joy is purposefully intended to erode your faith.

John 10:10 – “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly”.

The three most prevalent tactics Darkness uses to “kill, steal, and destroy” is through lies, fear, and pain.

    1. Lies:  Satan is a liar, and the father of lies.
    2. Fear:  Fear is Satan’s primary tool. Fear is designed to keep us preoccupied to the point where we cease to believe what God has said.
    3. Pain:      Pain, either physical or emotional, will direct our focus to ourselves and away from seeking God and others well being.

This morning’s focus is how lies can cause us to ask the wrong questions.

This Lie:   God can’t be good if He is in control and still allows bad things to happen.

This Poor Question:   If the Father isn’t always good, how can I trust Him to guide my life or anything else.

Story:  Theologically correct answer didn’t minister to young girls heart.

    1 Corinthian’s 13:6 – (love) does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth;

Truth We are in a spiritual war. (Ephesians 6) Satan still brings lies, fear and pain.  God has given us weapons against the devil to defeat him.

Better Question: How can I overcome the fear and pain that Satan has brought into my life and experience healing and growth in my faith?

Hebrews 12:2-3 – “looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross”

The joy that was set before Jesus was that He knew His obedience would result in our forgiveness and redemption.

Closing Statement:  How much joy is in your life right now?  Are you asking the wrong questions?  Do you question God’s goodness?
