“Let everything that has BREATH (NESHAMA) praise the Lord!” (Ps 150:6)
- Did you know that you were created to worship Him?
- Breath in Hebrew is “Neshama” means: breath of life. First used in Gen 2:7 when God breathe life in the nostrils of man.
- The word “worship” comes from the English Word ‘Worthship” declaring HIS WORTH
The word “Worship” is mentioned 197 in the Bible and first mentioned in Gen 22
Genesis 22:1-5
Definition of worship: A journey you embark on with the intent of meeting God!
WORSHIP- IS A PLANNED JOURNEY- (Verse 3)
So Abraham rose early in the morning and saddled his donkey, and took two of his young men with him, and Isaac his son; and he split the wood for the burnt offering, and arose and went to the place of which God had told him.
- It was planned journey.
- Abraham left the familiar place of home to go to a new place- The land of Moriah. According to the Torah and other Jewish texts: Land of Worship, Land of Vision
- With worship, you cannot rely on yesterday’s sacrifice, you must bring a new one. The song that you received in yesterday’s season will not work in today’s
- What did you bring to worship the King of King this morning?
WORSHIP IS A JOURNEY THAT TAKES TIME – (verse 4)
“Then on the THIRD DAY Abraham LIFTED HIS EYES AND SAW THE PLACE AFAR OFF.”
- Even though he could see the place, he had to walk up to it, and enter in
- Same with worship, you might be able to see the place, but you have to enter in
WORSHIP IS A JOURNEY THAT HAS A FINAL DESTINATION – (Verse 5)
“Stay here with the donkey; the lad and I will go YONDER and WORSHIP ”
- Now Abraham had no idea what God would do “yonder”. He simply trusted
- Same with worship, we don’t know where “Yonder” is but we just press in
Final Thought: Here’s what you can expect where you find your place called “Yonder:
- God- Yahweh-Jehovah- Elohim- El Shaddai. Jehovah Jireh- Your provider; Jehovah Rapha – Your Healer; Jehovah Shalom – Your Peace
