Yes to God (12/12/21)

December 12, 2021

OPENING SCRIPTURES:

Mary said “Yes” – Luke 1:38

So Mary said, “YES, I am a servant of the Lord; let this happen to me according to your word.” Then the angel departed from her. (Luke 1:38 NET)

  • Mary did not understand how God was going to do it, but her faith and trust in God responded with a YES!

Joseph said “Yes” – Matthew 1:24

When Joseph awoke from sleep, HE DID what the angel of the Lord (Matthew 1:24 NET)

  • Joseph did not understand the process that God would use but his faith and trust in God responded with a Yes! He did exactly what the angel of the Lord asked of Him

Jesus said “Yes” – John 11-5, 14

In the beginning the Word already existed. The Word was with God, and the Word was God.
He existed in the beginning with God. God created everything through him, and nothing was created except through him. The Word gave life to everything that was created, and his life brought light to everyone. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it. (John 1:1-5 NLT)

  • Jesus said “yes” to creation because nothing was created except through Him.
  • And here’s the Christmas Story: Jesus said “yes’ to bringing light to the world.

14 So the Word became human and made his home among us. (John 1:14 NLT)

  • Jesus said “Yes” to becoming Human and making His home among us.
  • I believe the most powerful “Yes” is found right here in verse 14: The Word became flesh and made His home among us.
  • Jesus said “Yes” and became Immanuel – “God with us”

What happens when you say yes to God!

# 1 YOUR “YES” GIVES YOU ACCESS TO THE GRACE OF GOD

And of His (Jesus’s) fullness (abundance or overflow) we have all received, and GRACE FOR GRACE (Abundance of Grace). 17 For the law was given through Moses, but GRACE and truth came through Jesus Christ. (John 1:16-17 NKJ)

  • Grace has a name. His name is Jesus.
  • When you say yes to Jesus, His grace is made available to you.

#2 YOUR “YES” GIVES YOU ACCESS TO HIS WISDOM, STATURE AND FAVOR

52 Jesus GREW in WISDOM and in STATURE and in FAVOR with God and all the people. (Luke 2:52 NLT)

  • Because Jesus said Yes to the Father, He increased and grew in wisdom, stature and favor.
  • The same is true for us when we say yes to God, we grow into His wisdom, His stature and His favor.

For the Lord gives wisdom; From His mouth come knowledge and understanding (Proverbs 2:6 NKJ)

But you belong to God, my dear children. You have already won a victory over those people, because the Spirit who lives in you is greater than the spirit who lives in the world. (1 John 4:4 NLT)

For You, O Lord, will bless the righteous; With favor You will surround him as with a shield. (Psalm 5:12 NKJ)

#3 YOUR “YES” IS THE CREME

  • God has a dream for your life – His Calling.
  • God has a destiny for your life – His Purpose
  • The crème is God’s process, the glue that connects the dream with the destiny.

10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared BEFOREHAND that we should walk in them. (Ephesians 2:10 NKJ)
