Are You Available? Part 2 (02/13/2022)

February 13, 2022

OPENING SCRIPTURE:

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. (John 3:16 NIV)

  • According to many sources, this is the most quoted verse in the Bible – John 3:16
  • I want you to underline the word “world” and right above it, write the word “me”
  • God so loved YOU that He gave His one and son for YOU.
  • Believe it for you! Personalize His Love for you!

The question is are you available for His Love?

  • God has created us with a void that can only be filled by the love of God.
  • In order to find love, you must first find God.
  • Love and God cannot exist independently of each other. God is love!

Dear friends, let us continue to love one another, FOR LOVE COMES FROM GOD. Anyone who loves is a child of God and knows God. But anyone who does not love does not know God, for GOD IS LOVE. We know how much God loves us, and we have put our trust in his love. GOD IS LOVE, and all WHO LIVE IN LOVE LIVE IN GOD, and GOD LIVES IN THEM. (1 John 4:7-8, 16)

  • The Greek word for love here is AGAPE the same love in John 3:16 meaning: SELFLESS, SACRIFICIAL AND UNCONDITIONAL.
  • This love is a powerful force inside of you!

HIS LOVE IS SELFLESS – Are you Available for this kind of love?

For even the Son of Man came not TO BE SERVED BUT TO SERVE OTHERS and to give his life as a ransom for many (Mark 10:45 NLT)

  • When Jesus hung on that cross, He put you above Himself.

HIS LOVE IS SACRIFICIAL – Are you available for this kind of love?

“GREATER LOVE has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” (John 15:13 NIV)

  • When He took his last breath, He had you on His mind.

HIS LOVE IS UNCONDITIONAL – Are you available for this kind of love?

“But God showed his GREAT LOVE FOR US BY SENDING CHRIST TO DIE FOR US WHILE WE WERE STILL SINNERS” (Romans 5:8 NLT)

  • No conditions. He died while we were still sinners!

Here is how Paul describes this powerful love in Romans 8:31-39

31 What, then, shall we say in response to these things?

  • What are those things? Your pain, Your past, Your guilt, Your shame.

If God is for us, who can be against us?

  • “God is for me!” – What a great declaration.
  • What it means is that if trouble comes knocking today, God is on your side.
  • God is not just for you. God is in you. His Love in you. His Grace is you. His mercy is in you. His faithfulness is in you.
  • Therefore…. if God is for you, then who can be against you.

32 He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?

  • For God so love you that He gave you His only Son.
  • And if He loves you that much, why would He not give you all things?
  • Everything you will ever need comes from the finished works of Christ on the cross. Why? Because He loves you! The question is are you available for this kind of love?

Then Paul goes on to make a pretty bold statement about God’s Love:

35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? … 37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. 38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

  • God is not mad at you. He is madly in love with you.
  • Are you available for this kind of love?

CONCLUSION:
