Facing Our Hard Truths (08/14/2022)

The level of intimacy we experience with Jesus and the ability to think for ourselves determine how far our faith will take us.

Matthew 6: 7-10

And when you pray, do not use vain repetitions as the heathen do. For they think that they will be heard for their many words. “Therefore do not be like them. For your Father knows the things you have need of before you ask Him. In this manner, therefore, pray: Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name.
Your kingdom come. Your will be done On earth as it is in heaven.

  • You and I, have a role in fulfilling this prayer of bringing God’s will to earth! The only way we can fulfill this role is by faith.
  • It is a challenge to be salt and light to those around us.
  • What we do when our natural reasoning disagrees with what God has shown us to do determines the level of intimacy we will experience with Jesus.

Psalm 51:6

Behold, You desire truth in the inward parts,

  • Truth sometimes causes pain.
  • We must confront our perceptions of truth.

1. If we confess our sin, we are forgiven.
2. You are of great value.
3. You have a hope and a purpose.
4. You have to contend for the above 3.

Romans 7: 22-23

For I delight in the law of God according to the inward man. But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members.

  • Our path to freedom is by not feeding the lies our old nature embraces. If we do not feed it, it will eventually die.

Galatians 2:20

I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.
