Happy Mother’s Day to every mother, grandmother, guardian, mentor, and woman of influence!
Whether you’re a biological mom, a spiritual mom, or a stand-in mom—you matter. You have been called For Such A Time As This.
The Book of Esther is set during the Persian Empire around 483 BC. A young Jewish woman named Hadassah, also known as Esther. She is chosen to be queen, but Mordecai, her cousin and guardian advised her to hide her Jewish identity. A wicked man named Haman plots to destroy the Jewish people, Esther must risk her life by approaching the king uninvited to save her people. Through courage, wisdom, and divine timing, Esther speaks up and saves a nation.
In the story, Esther was not a mother, but she was certainly a woman of influence. Just like many Godly mothers, she had: purposeful influence, wise discernment, and fearless courage.
# 1: A MOTHER’S INFLUENCE IS POSITIONED BY PURPOSE
• Mothers are purposefully placed in that role by God.
• The same was true for Esther. She didn’t just land in the palace by chance—she was placed there by God’s divine hand
• God used her background and her identity to position her.
• Purposefully positioned to receive favor with God and man.
Never let LOYALTY and KINDNESS leave you! Tie them around your neck as a reminder. Write them deep within your heart. THEN YOU WILL FIND FAVOR WITH BOTH GOD AND PEOPLE, and you will earn a good reputation. (Proverbs 3: 3-4 NLT)
• Esther was loyal and kind. And because of that she was highly favored.
Esther 2:15 – “When the turn came for Esther… SHE WON THE FAVOR OF EVERYONE WHO SAW HER.”
Esther 2:17 – “Now the king was attracted to Esther more than to any of the other women… so he set a royal crown on her head.”
• This was not a random act. This was a divine appointment. This was a divine positioning.
• Your assignment is not random at all, God has purposefully positioned you, in your children’s lives.
Moms are God’s boots on the ground- God’s Generals
# 2: A MOTHER’S WISDOM KNOWS WHEN TO WAIT AND WHEN TO ACT
• Esther’s story is a masterclass of Godly wisdom especially when it comes to knowing when to wait and when to act.
• She did not rush into decisions or confrontations. She waited in prayer before acting
Esther 4:16 – “Go, gather together all the Jews… and fast for me. Do not eat or drink for three days….”
The right action at the wrong time can still be wrong. Timing requires divine guidance.
Esther 5:1–2 – “On the third day Esther put on her royal robes… When he saw Queen Esther standing in the court, he was pleased with her and held out to her the gold scepter.”
• Esther did not barge into the king’s throne room immediately.
• There is always a right moment and a right approach.
Ecclesiastes 3:1 – “There is A TIME FOR EVERYTHING, and A SEASON FOR EVERY ACTIVITY under the heavens.”
# 3: A MOTHER’S COURAGE CHANGES GENERATIONS
Esther 4:16 – I will go to the king, even though it is against the law. And if I perish, I perish
• Esther knew the risk but chose to act anyway. She confronted the king face-to-face and exposed Haman’s plan to destroy her people. Esther spoke up!
Esther 7:3–4 – “If I have found favor with you… grant me my life—this is my petition. And spare my people—this is my request.”
• Esther stood in the gap, not as a queen, but as a deliver. That’s courage!
• Because of Esther’s courage history was re-written to ensure the existence of generations to come.
Happy Mother’s Day. You are chosen, called, and crowned—for such a time as this.
