Never Alone

OPENING SCRIPTURE:

Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. AND SURELY I AM WITH YOU ALWAYS, TO THE VERY END OF THE AGE.” (Matthew 28:16-20 NIV)

• It is a farewell message; It is a command; It is a promise:
• Jesus’ way of saying: “Though you won’t see Me physically, My presence will remain with You”
• This wasn’t just for the disciples. It’s for us today—every believer, every follower of Jesus who faces challenges, doubts, or fear.

# 1: HIS PRESENCE IS CONSTANT — NOT CONDITIONAL

• Conditional: conditions and requirements must be met.
• Constant: Abiding and never changes

UNCONDITIONAL: Jesus met all the conditions for your salvation, your redemption.

His last words on the cross were: “It is finished” (John 19:30)

• The Greek word is very powerful: Tetelestai
• Financial Context: debt has been paid in full – conditions met.
• Judicial context: sentence has been fully served – conditions met.
• Military context: battle has been won – conditions met.

His presence in your life is guaranteed because He met that condition.

• Jesus didn’t say, “I will be with you if you behave,” or “when you feel it.” He said, “I am with you always.”

“NEVER will I leave you; NEVER will I forsake you.” (Hebrews 13:5 NIV)

• NEVER

I can never escape from your Spirit! I CAN NEVER GET AWAY FROM YOUR PRESENCE!
If I go up to heaven, you are there; if I go down to the grave, YOU ARE THERE.
If I ride the wings of the morning, if I dwell by the farthest oceans,
EVEN THERE YOUR HAND WILL GUIDE ME, AND YOUR STRENGTH WILL SUPPORT ME.
(Psalm 139:7–10 NLT)

# 2: HIS PRESENCE EMPOWERS OUR MISSION

• Command: ‘Go and make disciples”
• Jesus did not expect us to do it in our own strength.
• It is the Holy Spirit that empowers us.

“But you will receive POWER when the HOLY SPIRIT comes upon you” (Acts 1:8 NLT)

“MY GRACE is all you need. MY POWER works best in weakness.” (2 Corinthians 12:9 NLT)

• The word grace is referred to as God’s enabling power.
• His power works best or is perfected in your weakness.

AND SURELY I AM WITH YOU ALWAYS, TO THE VERY END OF THE AGE.” (Matthew 28:16-20 NIV)

• It is a Covenant Promise

During the last supper Jesus demonstrated the meaning of that covenant relationship.

And he took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, “This is my body given for you; do this in remembrance of me.”
In the same way, after the supper he took the cup, saying, “This cup is the NEW COVENANT IN MY BLOOD, which is poured out for you.
(Luke 22:19-20 NIV)

• This covenant in His blood says that He will never leave you nor forsake you.

CONCLUSION:

What is the Holy Spirit saying to you through this message?
