OPENING STATEMENT: Human nature points to others for change while God points to us and His word for change. Transformation starts right there: Us and His Word.
Saul experienced change and transformation because of his personal encounter with God- Acts Chapter 9.
As he was approaching Damascus on this mission, a light from heaven suddenly shone down around him. He fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to him, “Saul! Saul! Why are you persecuting me?”
“Who are you, lord?” Saul asked.
And the voice replied, “I am Jesus, the one you are persecuting! Now get up and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do.” (Acts 9:3-6 NLT)
- Without an encounter with God, there can be no transformation.
- Resisting Godly change, is like fighting against God Himself.
OPENING SCRIPTURE:
DO NOT CONFORM to the PATTERN OF THIS WORLD, but BE TRANSFORMED by the RENEWING OF YOUR MIND. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will. (Romans 12:2 NIV)
- Conform: Shape, mold.
- Warning: The world has a mold for your life that reject God.
Without the Word of God, you cannot test and approve anything.
ALL SCRIPTURE is INSPIRED BY GOD and is useful TO TEACH US what is TRUE and to MAKE US REALIZE WHAT IS WRONG in our lives. IT CORRECTS US WHEN WE ARE WRONG AND TEACHES US TO DO WHAT IS RIGHT. God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work. (2 Timothy 3:16-17 NLT)
- Only the Word of God is powerful enough to teach, correct and equip
#1: The Word of God Renews Your Mind
For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires. (Hebrews 4:12 NLT)
- The word of God can surgically remove things that don’t belong.
- Replace them with God’s word.
How can a young person stay on the path of purity? By living according to your word. I seek you with all my heart; do not let me stray from your commands. I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you. (Psalm 119: 9-11 NIV)
- The Word of God is the anchor of a believer’s life
- How is our daily Word intake?
#2: The Word of God Redirects Your Life
Transformation begins when we stop walking blindly and let God’s Word light our choices.
“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” (Psalm 119:105)
- This means God’s Word redirects us step by step, showing us how to walk in His will.
- It is a step-by-Step Trust – Walk in obedience to the light you have today, and God will guide the next step.
#3: The Word of God Rebuilds Your Character
BUT DON’T JUST LISTEN TO GOD’S WORD. YOU MUST DO WHAT IT SAYS. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves. For if you listen to the word and don’t obey, it is like glancing at your face in a mirror. You see yourself, walk away, and forget what you look like. But if you LOOK CAREFULLY into THE PERFECT LAW (THE WORD OF GOD) that sets you free, and if you do what it says and don’t forget what you heard, then God will bless you for doing it. (James 1:22-25 NLT)
- Listening to the Word isn’t enough—it must be practiced.
- The Word is like a mirror: it reveals who we really are and what needs to change.
- Transformation begins when we not only hear God’s Word but apply it.
