OPENING SCRIPTURE: “Here am I (Lord)! Send me.” (Isaiah 6:8 NKJ)
- This is the most dangerous prayer a believer can pray. Why? You just made yourself available to God.
- Prophet Isaiah was making himself available to God.
How do we make ourselves available to God?
#1 SEEK AN EXPERIENCE WITH GOD
Being available for God always starts with an experience with Him.
In the year that King Uzziah died, I SAW the Lord sitting on a throne, high and lifted up, and the train of His robe filled the temple. (Isaiah 6:1 NKJ)
- What Isaiah is describing here is a genuine experience with God. He is describing an encounter with God.
- Our availability to God starts with an encounter with Him.
“Draw near to God and He will draw near to you” (James 4:8 NKJ)
#2 ALLOW HIM TO SEE YOU
Being available for God starts when you allow Him to see you, the real you.
5 Then I said, “It’s all over! I am doomed, for I am a sinful man. I have filthy lips, and I live among a people with filthy lips. YET I have seen the King, the Lord of Heaven’s Armies.” (Isaiah 6:5 NLT)
- Isaiah was reflecting on his own righteousness and realizing is how unworthy he was.
- “Yet I have seen the King, the Lord of Heaven’s Armies”
- When he stood in the throne room, in the presence of God, He did not stand his own righteousness but on the righteousness of God.
- When you are clothed with the righteousness of God, you have an audience with the King.
22 We are MADE RIGHT WITH GOD BY PLACING OUR FAITH IN JESUS CHRIST. And this is true for everyone who believes, no matter who we are. (Romans 3:22 NLT)
- Your faith In Christ as your Lord and Savior is your right standing.
#3 ALLOW HIM TO TRANSFORM YOU
Being available for God starts when you allow Him to transform you.
6 Then one of the seraphim flew to me with a burning coal he had taken from the altar with a pair of tongs. 7 He touched my lips with it and said, “See, this coal has touched your lips. NOW YOUR GUILT IS REMOVED, AND YOUR SINS ARE FORGIVEN. (Isaiah 6:6-7 NLT)
- God did not want Isaiah to remain the same. He wanted Isaiah to experience what it would be like to have to have his guilt remove and his sins forgiven.
- Now remember Isaiah was still under the OT. He was still under the blood of goats and bulls. He did not have the blood of Jesus.
- We are in a much better place because of the blood of Jesus.
13 The blood of goats and bulls and the ashes of a heifer sprinkled on those who are ceremonially unclean sanctify them so that they are outwardly clean. 14 How much more, then, will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself unblemished to God, cleanse our consciences from acts that lead to death, so that we may SERVE THE LIVING GOD! (Hebrews 9:13-14 NIV)
- Without the blood of Christ there is no transformation. Without the blood of Christ, you are still holding on your guilt and shame of the past.
- Without the blood of Christ, you cannot make yourself available to God!
7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and THE BLOOD OF JESUS, HIS SON, PURIFIES US FROM ALL SIN. (1 John 1:7 NIV)
- His blood purifies.
